Very fine and welcoming atmosphere, food was excellent and prices are accordingly.
Healthy, genuine Italian food.
Although the menu is standard and changes periodically, the cook has been willing to accomodate for my food concerns and this has been the best way to enjoy some Italian food, this far away from home.
The restaurant also offers imported goods to buy, specialties, olive oil and soft drinks and also prepare gift baskets on request.
Highly recommended!
My partner and I have been to Gusto four or five times since they opened in Fall 2022, and it's now one of our favorite restaurants and date nights. The last couple times we've been there, the staff and owners have recognized us and welcomed us back, which really makes the experience feel even more special.
Eating here does feel like an experience. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is intimate and warm, and the service feels personal.
The Food: Everything we've had has been delicious, and feels authentic. I've not been to Italy myself, but the food feels like you're transported to another part of the world, enjoying the culture in a way you won't find in many traditional Italian American restaurants. The food itself is beautifully presented, often deceptively simple looking, but delicious and well made.
The menu is often refreshed with seasonal options, but some of the best dishes stick around - meaning you have the opportunity to get adventurous with something new to the menu, or order a favorite dish. Either way you won't be disappointed.
The meatballs (Polpette di Mamma) are a favorite of ours - so flavorful and incredibly tender, they practically melt in your mouth. The sauce looks like a simple red sauce, but tastes complex and deep.
The Mozzarella Affumicata appetizer is also a favorite, and a simple dish elevated by its presentation and excellent quality. Mozzarella made fresh in-house, smoked under a cloche that is brought out and removed at the table. The pleasant smoky smell gently spreads through the dining room but doesn't overstay it's welcome. The cheese itself is not overwhelmingly smokey, but the smoke adds a relatively subtle complexity to the fresh cheese. The platter also comes with several harder cheeses, and is served with walnuts and honey, which are a tasty complement.
The Service: As I said, we've only been to Gusto a handful of times, but we've been remembered and feel appreciated as customers. We leave with a smile on our face from a delicious meal, and the owners and staff seem happy to please. The chef/owner Andrea often introduces himself, their restaurant, and their mission to serve excellent and authentic food, and provides information about the dishes and their origins. Overall it's a very warm and personal experience.
The Atmosphere: The dining room has an elegant, intimate and romantic vibe. Overall it is dimly lit, but each table has a small lamp that helps keep things well lit enough to read the menu and appreciate the food, without disrupting the atmosphere. It makes for a great date night, but can equally be enjoyed by friends and family.
Overall, Gusto is one of our favorite and most special eating experiences. It stands out as a restaurant dedicated to the love of authentic Italian food and culture. The owners' passion is infectious, and comes through in the food - it inspires and invites you to appreciate the food as he does, and in that way it transports you to a meal experience that feels special.
Great new Italian restaurant. I definitely recommend. Food was fresh and delicious. The reason why I rated 4, because restaurant wasn't ready for our party in time We all waited a bit to srart. And they didn't have shot and champagne glassware. But in general, if you like Italian food this spot worth to try.
Absolutely amazing! I felt like I was in Italy. 100% authentic. Finally, a restaurant made by Italians, for Italians. Pasta is homemade, and all the ingredients are fresh. The perfect place to go when you would love to be in Italy but you can't.
Americans who are complaining about this place because of the size of the meal or because pasta is not served with a salad are ridiculous. They should go to Olive Garden. This is an Italian restaurant and it offers the same experience you would've had in Italy.
This place is a great find! A little hidden gem. The dining experience takes you to Italy for a nite! The homemade mozzarella ; The homemade pastas ; amazing dishes and desserts . I can’t wait to get back with a bottle of wine!
The owners and waitress checked on us frequently to ensure we had the best experience! Thank you Gusto!
Mangia! Mangia!
Authentic and exquisite Italian restaurant. Absolutely beautiful ambiance and what makes this place unique is that everything is homemade. Pasta selection is amazing and the fact that they make it fresh is just incredible. Their dessert selection is fantastic!
Service is very good and the owners are extremely nice and friendly.
Definitely coming back!
My wife and I absolutely love this restaurant! My mother and father in law invited us to dinner here in July for our anniversary and we were hooked! Being Italian and frequently visiting Italy knowing how restaurants work there, Gusto will take you back minus the flight! Everything was fresh and homemade with immense flavor. Andrea and his wife will make you feel at home. I brought my Italian born parents here recently and they not only enjoyed the food but enjoyed Andrea’s table side company. We are making plans to return soon!
This is a winner! A restaurant you wouldn't normally expect to find in the suburbs as it's so authentic, right down to the chef and his ingredients. Go out, take the ride if you are further away. You won't be sorry.
